In October, I stopped by the old apartment to sign to take my name off the lease and I saw these leaves in the parking lot. It was a wet day and the leaves were damp. I took them home intending on drawing them and over the next few days they dried to a crisp, curling up at the edges and looking even more interesting. I couldn’t help but think of my relationship withering and drying up as well. That is what I was thinking of when doing this piece. I am not one to use a lot of symbolism in my art unless something especially strikes me. Interestingly when reading through my bloglines, I came across this post by Ces. It seems like others think of their issues with love when painting leaves as well…
